Venetianity traces
In 2023, we embarked on a new challenge: to create products that would simultaneously celebrate our fair trade soul, but also our city, VENICE.
From many reflections, exchanges of ideas and attempts, two new lines were born: shoppers and Venetian jewelry!
Besides being a celebration of the city and the Campo that hosts us, these two lines also want to promote a type of conscious tourism. In the heart of a particularly exploited city, our neighborhood store indeed remains local, welcoming under the banner of a sustainable economy!
Venetian jewels made in Cambodia
Made for Aqua Altra out of landmines by skilled artisans, this jewel is the result of a cooperation between our fairtrade shop in Venice and the village of Chma Puan in Cambodia.
Originally, the function of the fero da prora on the gondola prow was to act as a counterweight to the gondolier and to keep the flat bottom of the gondola level with water (as a matter of fact, the shape of the Venetian gondola is not symmetrical being larger on one side).
However, it did not take long since the artistic minds of the Venetians covered it with a symbolic meaning, able to synthesize what all Venice was about.
A piece of metal used to produce a weapon, turned into a fero da prora, one of the most famous symbols of Venice and a true piece of art, beauty and peace.
Shopper
The Venetian shopper, is made to date in two lines: one celebrating Campo Santa Margerita and one on local fauna. It was born from the encounter of fair trade with our city: from the raw material, to the design, to the printing.
1. RAW MATERIAL: The bag is in fact 100% Fairtrade certified cotton, produced by Armstrong Knittig Mills, whom we had the pleasure of meeting and hosting in 2022.
2. THE ARTIST: Giulia Casarsa is a young artist, a student in our city, and she made the wonderful prints of the Campo and the 'Venetian fauna'.
3. THE PRINT: The first bags were printed in the city, at Doppiofondo, a cultural association and printing workshop!
We then decided to also collaborate with O'PRESS, an ethical screen printing workshop at the Genoa Prison.
